New Year's Greetings from MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V.

Happy New Year!

As President of MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V. (MBE), I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continuous support and patronage throughout 2016.

In 2016, we took the first big steps in optimizing the effectiveness of our organization. In May, we changed the name of our bank to MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V. and at the same time successfully positioned the operations of the former BTMU Brussels under the umbrella of MBE with the aim of creating a strong business foundation and framework which can respond to the various needs of customers whose businesses are growing across Europe.

In 2017, we intend to continue with our network optimization process and challenge ourselves even further  with our commitment to European markets and societies. As a next step, we plan to change the legal status of our Polish subsidiary to a branch of MBE by May 2017 and then, between October 2017 and April 2018, position BTMU Dusseldorf branch (including Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich and BTMU Lease) and BTMU Madrid branch (including Barcelona and Lisbon) under MBE’s jurisdiction, subject to approval of the necessary authorities.

The business environment in Europe has been rapidly changing. We must therefore enable ourselves to be ready to continuously transform and evolve with the changing environment, and I believe that, with our aforementioned network optimization project, we are on the right track to further enhance our customer-focused approach -  a key element of our ongoing commitment to be part of the world’s most trusted financial institution.

We feel it is our duty to do our utmost to fulfill the expectations of all our customers and play an active role in the Dutch and European societies whilst also supporting the European economy. My fellow board members, my staff and I all look forward to serving you with the best possible products and superior services in 2017.
